Do You Feel It?

Have you ever gone to a room or a building and felt the energy?  Sometimes it feels like you’ve come home.  Other places feels like being in jail, confined?  I have.  I tell people this and they think I’m off my rocker.  A lot of times I am.  But I think that’s why I can feel the energy of the place.

The questions is, is it the place or the people?

The first time I went to Oahu and stepped off the plane, it felt like I’d finally come home from a long trip.  It was the first time I felt this so intensely.

Or when I was a boy my sister’s best friend had taken us to a church.  I must say that I hated it.  It just wasn’t for me.

Place or people?

Place. Individuals have their “aura” or “vibe” as individuals. I don’t believe groups have the same effect. But place, now that’s a different story. I cannot remember all of the places that have “affected” me, but I remember that it has happened many times. Either feeling energized, or “at peace” or as you described, being “home”, even though one may never have been there before. Very cool question. Peace.

Thank you, Shagata. I feel place has a significance aura as you’ve stated. Take care.

People. Whenever I meditate at the zendo in San Francisco, my meditation is different, better, more expansive yet focused. I believe it’s called a “group-head”, meaning the group of people create a vibration with their collected life-force. I also feel these vibes, so I’m glad you mentioned this experience. There are also “power places”, which I never believed in until I went to Machu Piccu in Peru.

Interesting. As I’ve gathered from your comment, I think it’s a combination of both. Thank you.
